Meet Sheri Foley AllenI have always lived on the East Coast, so I am very familiar with the nuances of the real estate market here. I was born on the coast of Maine in Kittery and obtained my B.A in English and Education from the University of Maine. I have always cared about the quality of people’s lives. As a teenager I volunteered as a nurse’s aide. After finishing college I became a junior high and high school teacher. In addition to teaching I designed a curriculum that was implemented in an adult education program in Orchard Beach. Another aspect of my teaching career I really enjoyed was helping tough kids explore poetry, writing and literature. We held regular public readings of their work I moved to Virginia in 1992 and began my real estate career—more about that in a bit. First let me introduce you to my two fabulous daughters and my sweet pets. Amy is my eldest “child”. She is in her early 20s and recently graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax. She followed me in also majoring in English, but she added a minor in French and plans to teach there next year. Right now she is working for a small technology company. Kelly, my younger daughter, is enrolled at Christopher Newport University. She too is an English major (surprised?). Kelly’s minor is biology. She hopes to do graduate work in holistic health and nutrition, then start her own business. In addition to her career aspiration, she loves to cook! I am also a huge pet lover. From big animals like horses down to small critters like dogs and cats—I love them all! Although I don’t currently own horses, I have in the past. Right now my pet nation is populated by two adorable shelties and two cats. Not surprisingly many of my hobbies are connected with aspects of both my work life and educational life that I have mentioned above. I love doing the following things: • Working with elderly people I have interests that I have not previously mentioned, as well. These are activities such as… • Dog training (hope to become more involved in that) Last but not least, I promised I’d get back to the topic of my real estate career. My resume is posted below, but first let me tell you about the markets in which I specialize. I live in Lake Ridge in Prince William County, so I most of the properties I sell are located here. Many of the buyers I serve work in or near Washington, D.C, so they are often interested in living in Northern Virginia to shorten their commutes. Therefore, as well being an expert in properties in Prince William County, I also specialize in real estate in the Stafford/Fredericksburg area and in D.C. itself. EDUCATION B.S. Degree English Education 1981 University of Maine, Orono Minor in Creative EXPERIENCE 1981-1992 Junior High/High School English teacher ACCOMPLISHMENTS Licensed Real Estate Agent Since 1993 PHILOSOPHY Real Estate isn’t just about selling homes. Nearly anyone can do that. It’s about hopes and dreams, needs and fears. And it’s about really listening and genuinely caring. If an agent forgets, even for a moment, that a real human being is involved, all that’s left is a transaction. A deal. The bottom line. But if a home is truly a sanctuary, a place to raise a family, an investment, then I can never settle for the bottom line, the money. Those things must come long after doing what is best for each and every client, at every step of the way, throughout the buying and selling process.
